War in Art

Department of Arts of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan from May, 1 through May, 31, 2016 presents a book exhibition "Living memory of the past years", dedicated to the theme of war in art.

Books and multimedia editions presented at the exhibition tell about the defenders of the Russia from the epic heroes to modern ones. The exhibition consists of 3 sections.

The section "The Defenders of Russian Land" tells the story of the heroes of ancient Russia in the visual arts. Images of Ilya Muromets, Dobrynya Nikitich, Prince Igor and other invincible, strong, wise heroes of antiquity attracted many Russian artists. Books and albums presented at the section  contain colorful illustrations of famous paintings of V. Vasnetsov, V. Surikov, I. Repin, I. Glazunov.

Section "...Coated with the glory of the wonderful crusade, and with the eternal memory of the Twelfth year" of the exhibition is dedicated to famous Russian generals. Portraits of M. Kutuzov, A. Suvorov, Admiral F. Ushakov, paintings of military events make a lasting impression on the audience even today.

Section "Th country is proud with their acts of bravery" of the exhibition presents the documents devoted to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and military events of the late 20th century. Book editions containing the posters of the Great Patriotic War would be of interest for the readers. Also here are presented the feature films about the war that make up the golden fund of the national cinema and are awarded with the main prizes and awards at international film festivals at different years. Of no less interest are the modern Russian movies about the war.
