The National Library is the participant in «Zhiganov Readings»
On October 14, 2016 the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan participated in the III All-Russia research and practice conference called “Zhiganov Readings - 2016”. The topic of the conference was “Tunes of museum”. The conference took place in the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan and was dedicated to 105th anniversary of the birth of the prominent composer and founder of Kazan conservatory Nazib Zhiganov (1911–1988) and the 25th anniversary of Nazib Zhiganov Memorial Flat foundation.
2 workshops were organized within the conference, the former covered the topic of the personality of Nazib Zhiganov in music culture, the latter focused on the role of museums in development of heritage of Tatarstan. The officials of the Department of Arts of the National Library of RT attended the workshop with the report on the role of library in the formation of cultural heritage. The presentation called “Music in the National Library of RT” listed the most significant musical projects:
- online reference books called “Prominent cultural figures of the Republic of Tatarstan”, that reveal the creative development of composers of Tatarstan;
- catalogue of autographs “Collection of autographs of the Department of Arts of the National Library of RT”;
- meetings with famous art and cultural figures of Tatarstan;
- concerts and musical evenings of prominent cultural figures of Republic of Tatarstan within the music hall titled “Musical evenings in Ushkova house”;
- “A trip to the world of music” - evenings of composers and musicologists , etc.
Among the participants, there were representatives of science and educational institutions, museums and libraries, lead musicologists. The head of Nazib Zhiganov Memorial Flat Lidia Yakovleva was the host of the conference.
